How do disable webcam after using it as a source once?

Every time I use my webcam as a source layer / Preview FX it stays on even after I remove it from layers again. This is super annoying because new Macbooks will show a green LED when your camera is in use. I also just don’t want my camera to be constantly running. Is there any way to turn it off again without closing & reopening VDMX? If not there definitely should be.

(Also, is there a VDMX Discord server?)

Your mac is saying that VDMX has access to the camera at any moment once the application is open. If you noticed. The first time you use the FaceTime Camera in VDMX there’s a delay (about a second or two). VDMX keeps the camera running to avoid delays (since this is for live performance, most users want as little latency as possible when switching to camera feeds).

If you uncheck the camera in the VID In menu, it will turn off:

There is no discord server and for a number of reasons that have been discussed:

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I tried uncheking that setting, it turns it off for a split second but immediately turns it back on.

Do you have it connected to a layer while you are disabling it?

You’ll need to make sure that whatever layer is using the camera is not actively using it in order to turn it off.

yep, removed the layer but id did not help. As of now the only way to turn off the camera is by restarting VDMX wich is pretty unconvenient as I am using the demo.

Could you capture a screen recording of it? I’d also follow up by submitting a bug report. Help menu > Report bug.
