Hi all,
We’ve put together a new test build (1.2.11) that specifically targets the rendering issues some of you have been running into on macOS Tahoe, along with a few other bug fixes and improvements. Before we push this out officially, we were hoping you could give it a spin on your end.
Important Note: Because this is a test build with some under-the-hood changes, please do not use this in a live production or performance environment without thoroughly testing it first. You can easily install this alongside your current, stable version of VDMX6. To do so, simply go to your Applications folder and rename your current install (e.g., rename it to “VDMX6 Stable”). When you run the new installer, it will show up in the folder as “VDMX6”. You can either leave it as is or rename it to “VDMX6 Beta” to help keep track of them.
If there are no issues, then this version will be configured for the auto-updater

What’s new in this build:
-
Workaround for macOS 26 (Tahoe) rendering bug when windows with Metal views are not visible. (Note: To get around this, hidden Metal views will now skip rendering to the screen. Because of this, when a view becomes visible again, you may see a split-second flash of the last frame it was showing. Rest assured, this shouldn’t affect your main output videos or Syphon outputs! We aren’t wild about this workaround, but it fixes the main issue while we wait for Apple to address the root cause in macOS 27.)
-
Updated to link against the latest macOS SDK. (Note: This build will still run fine back to macOS 13, but let us know if you spot any minor new visual regressions from this change, like the magnifying glass in search fields drawing without its alpha channel). * Change in behavior: double-clicking a layer name now edits the layer name.
-
Fix: table columns not resizing.
-
Fixed a regression: the inspector for control surface text fields was automatically uninspecting the text field.
-
Fix: Under some circumstances, resizing a window could make it slightly larger, un-snapping it from the window above it.
If you have a chance to test this out—especially if you are on Tahoe—please let us know how it behaves. As always, if you spot a bug, use the built-in ‘Help’ menu > Report Bug to submit it.
Thanks for your help!
