I have the same problem, I made a post about it last week.
No, it wasn’t always this way, before you would shoot the clip and it would automatically choose the interface which was saved last time before closing the project.
I also noticed this now, its same on vdmx 5 and vdmx6.
Not sure if its vuo or vdmx thing, but so far the only workaround I have found is to have the templates asigned to a midi controller, and when you shoot the clip, press the chosen interface at the same time.
But not very comfortable really as sometimes you forget and then you have a non moving clip projected till you manually trigger the interface.
