Text with ISF

Is there a Text shader that anyone recommends? I’m hoping not to have to use Rosetta.

If you have one please provide a link, and installation instructions.

I wouldn’t think so. Are you unable to use the current / built in text?

You could also use Vuo or TouchDesigner as an alternative. There’s an example of how to send a String into TouchDesigner from VDMX in the example .tox files.

When i choose built in Layer Src /Text

  • No text field appears to enter text.

Do you have QC (Quartz Composer) disabled in the VDMX Preferences?

Yes that was the issue, Under Preferences/Outputs-Rendering/
Turning on “QC content renders normally” allowed Text rendering.

I haven’t had any issues with the QC text, but there are a few .qtz FX that will cause VDMX to crash on newer machines (hence why QC is disabled by default).

Adding a feeature request here hoping to have a new text function in future updates that can make outputting text intuitive and easy without need to play around with settings.
