Syncing 6 monitors

I’m hoping to connect 2 mac minis (outputting to three 4k monitors each) over a network and have frame accurate sync across 6 mp4 vid files. How would y’all suggest I do this with VDMX?

For instance, if each instance of VDMX has 3 layers spread across 11520x2160, with a 4k vid file loaded on each layer, a timecode plugin could use the 1st file’s playbar as a data source. The other 5 vids could use the timecode over OSC, keeping all 6 files in sync, no? A practical solution, or is there a better way?

You could sync everything over a single timecode source, but there’s not “VDMX Link” like there is for Ableton MIDI Timecode data.

Macs do not frame sync the video outputs.

I believe i read something abut the Mac Studio possibly having sync but cant find any reference to it.

There is some good threads on the Video Engineering Reddit group that go into much more details of the issues in trying to sync video outputs on mac.

The older Intel mac that can use an external gpu or output card can use blackmagic decklink cards in a external box via thunderbolt.
M series cannot currenly use external gpu’s so not possible.

Or using two Datapath devices splitting a 4K60 video across 6-8 1080p outputs. Amazon.com: Datapath Fx4/H 4K display wall controller w/HDCP - HDMI outputs : Industrial & Scientific

This is a cheap videowall scaller, but it doesn’t have frame sync: Four Outputs From One Mac: Using VDMX Advanced Output With an Affordable Video Wall Processor — VDMX - MAC VJ SOFTWARE

The iphone got the ability to do genlock. Maybe look into the libraries supporting that.
