SDI in, SDI output delay setup

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a live production setup and need to achieve consistent, low-latency SDI processing with the following requirements:

  • SDI Input → Effects Processing → SDI Output**
  • Maximum 3-4 frames total delay** (including effects)
  • Consistent frame count**: Always exactly 3 frames OR always exactly 4 frames (not variable between 3-4)
  • Critical requirement**: Fixed delay is essential for maintaining audio/video sync in our broadcast chain
  1. Hardware Setup: What’s the recommended configuration for achieving consistent 3-4 frame latency
  2. External Reference Sync: Does VDMX6 properly lock its frame timing to the external reference input of DeckLink cards? Or does it only sync to the video input signal?
  3. Genlock Options: Is there a way to force VDMX6 to maintain rock-solid frame timing using genlock reference
  4. Delay Compensation: Are there any settings or workflows to lock the processing delay to a specific frame count?
