[Request] Better way to browse "Assets"

Just a UI feature request based on my usage so far:

Right now, the only way to browser FXs without having the whole project inspector open, is to use the massive dropdown list:

This becomes a bit tedious when I’m performing since I tend to do a lot of improv and having to squint through this list can be a little cumbersome. The only way to cue common used ones up is to use “Presets” but that limits the number, and overrides other FXs in the chain, while clicking an asset appends it to the list (which is great!)

Having a better browser for these would be great, something like the clip bin, but for chain presets, where you can pick the target layer, and click the chain to apply it, maybe with custom icons/thumbnails too

There is another way to do this (browse fx without the dropdown menu), I’m not with VDMX right now but from memory, open the Assets inspector, where you can browse them directly (not in a menu, but as a clickable visible folder system and list) and then there is a preview window below, you can select in that window which layer VDMX should use as preview layer. Then you can click or navigate around as much as you’d like, and the preview instantly shows you the FX on the layer you select, without actually adding it to the layer. This way you can quickly review tons of FX instantly.

This is from memory and not from VDMX in front of me, it might contain errors.

Yes I’m aware of that feature, but as far as I know there’s no way to instantly apply a chain to a layer that I’m happy with from that window. Unless I’m mistaken, it would require me to then go and find the FX chain again in the dropdown menu.

(I suppose I could drag the asset over, but it won’t keep the adjustments I make in the preview window unless I save over it or duplicate it)

This might be the best option for now though

I never got around to uploading this video, but here it is. Thanks for reminding me!
