Outputting video to different monitors

Hello everyone,

I am looking for help with outputting different videos to different monitor set ups all at once. Trying to wrap my head around how to set this up and how to output it all. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Monitor 1: hdmi output to 9:16 digital monitor

Monitor 2: hdmi output to video wall unit which then goes into 2 CRT monitors stacked one one top of each other

Monitor 3: Hdmi output to crt monitor.

Take a look at the advanced output options:

If Monitor 1 is 9:16 you can also setup the rotate 90 degrees in the apple screen settings.

I guess the part that is confusing me is the canvas/main output. Should I be creating a canvas that is large enough to fit all of the different outputs and then fitting in each video on a layer within that canvas?

I was able to get video to the stacked CRTs but then when I tried sending another video to the 1080x1920 monitor it would only appear overlayed on top of the other video on the double stacked CRTs. In the advanced options I even tried selecting the layer as opposed to the main output and this didn’t seem to work?!

Could you share a screen shot of your apple system display layout? You’ll most likely have to create a .csv file and import it with the additional screen. For the source you can have a separate layer that goes to the other monitor, it doesn’t have to be the “Main Output”. it could another grouped layer that has other adjustments. It’s definitely a more manual process than other applications such as MadMapper, but it’s possible.

Scroll down the page and check this out: VDMX Video Display and Recording | VIDVOX Docs

this is something that’s worked for me.

in your canvas/main output settings, multiply the width by the amount of outputs you’re using. in your case it would be 3840 (1280 x 3)

all three outputs should show up in your vdmx output options (option F) in the fullscreen tab. you might need to go back to the canvas/main output settings from here to resize and adjust each layer to fit the desired display. If you’re using those cheap amazon hdmi2av converters, one thing I like to do is change the display settings in the apple menu for each hdmi2av to match the higher resolution output so they all show up as the same size in the vdmx output settings. that helps with the previously mentioned resizing step. ime the hdmi2av converters autoscale the output aspect ratio to fit 4:3 for the tvs.

I’ve never messed with a 9:16 monitor so I apologize if I just added a bunch of confusion to your situation.

Hi drp, what is your computer?
I’m not sure if you’re in a place to invest in hardware but I’ve had great success using the Datapath FX4

Datapath has Wall Designer as their software where you configure your machine.
I’d also consider / recommend Mad Mapper.

Lastly, SwitchResX is a great piece of software for overriding resolution guardrails on mac.

For different content output: In the past I’ve setup my main canvas as a 7680 x 1080. I then assign a layer, in this case it was for 4 outputs, to each section (1920 x 1080 for this one). This works super well with MadMapper + Datapath FX4.
