Midi Controller (Faderfox pc12) for vdmx6

Hey all, I’m new to vdmx and this forum. I’m not the most tech savvy person but I manage to stumble through most of the time.
I’m having a little trouble implementing a midi controller with vdmx and wondering if anyone might have some insight.
I want to use my faderfox pc12 to control a couple parameters in vdmx. I’m on a MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.1.1 and I got a fairly cheap midi to usb-c adapter on Amazon (Amazon.com: FORE Type-C to MIDI Interface MIDI Cable Adapter with Input&Output Connecting with Keyboard/Synthesizer for Editing&Recording Track Work with Windows/Mac OS for Studio Type-C Color Balck - 6.5Ft : Musical Instruments). I’m using Midi Studio to check if the computer is indeed seeing the pc12 and I do see “USB MIDI Interface” showing up, although I’m not seeing the arrows light up when I turn knobs or push buttons. So it seems that it can see the device but maybe not receiving actual midi data?
In vdmx, when I try to use midi discovery, I see / under the ui inspector.
I’ve been poking around on forums like this one, and YouTube, but haven’t been able to get past this point so I thought I’d ask the community.

Thanks in advance!

Does the PC12 have a USB port? If so, why not use the USB port for MIDI?

You can also try Protokol to see what / if any, MIDI signal is coming in.

Using the usb direct from the pc12 is an interesting idea, I don’t know why I hadn’t considered that, thanks!

Protokol is exactly what I was looking for so thanks for this as well!

Hopefully I can get things working between these two. Really appreciate it!

Update in case anyone else is trouble shooting something similar in the future…
Protokol was really helpful, I wasn’t getting good data through the adapter. USB straight into the computer solved it and I am up and running. Thanks again for the reply!
