Live Danmu (Bullet Comment) Options

Hi Guys,

I’ve come across a project where the client wishes to do live Danmu (horizontal scrolling comments) which allows the audience to send comments to a certain address, and the screen will have these comments scrolling horizontally across the screen.

I have tried it using the built in “Text”, and have the Media Bin auto layer set to Polyphonic. This can kind of work with the exception that I will need to create maybe 100 layers, as the client wants to flood the screen with these Danmu.

Just wondering if there are other ways we could approach this? Maybe using a third party app?

Not sure about a 3rd party app, but this sounds like a good use case for TouchDesigner and/or Vuo.

Both have built in text generators. You could also use VDMX’s OCR feature to capture the text if someone wants to hold up text in front of a camera to add to the queue.
