Fading drawn line

Hello VDMX friends!
I’m on the lookout for a drawing tool for a live performance. I’d love to be able to draw a simple sketch with my graphics tablet, reacting to the music. But what I really want is for the drawn line to fade! I’d like to be able to regulate after which time my drawn line starts to disappear, already after 1 second or only after 10 minutes… :) What I am looking for is a kind of reverse function for the drawing process.
Suppose I were to draw a spiral, then this spiral would dissolve again starting from the centre when I reach the outer circles…
Does anyone have any ideas? Would that be possible with TD?
I’d be over the moon for some help!
Cheers!

I think you could do that in TD, you could use something like the Feedback node (link). The question is how to get the input from the tablet into TD.

You could also make something with VUO.

There are also some integrated tools in VDMX for this. You can use a layer with two effects. First you use one of the Overlay effects (Cursor, Doodler or Highliter) tie that to the mouse/trackpad and another Glithc effect - Comet tails. This would give you a functioning version. I guess if you want more control on shapes and tail lenghts you can make your versions in Vuo, probably in TD as well. But Vuo might be enough.

Thank you Jernej! I am a complete beginner in TD. So I appreciate your great idea with the already integrated tools in VDMX!!!
I will definitely try this.
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect a Vakom drawing tablet to VDMX?

@henrike I have reinstalled my wacom tablet’s drivers to test it out. I think you just use the mouse X and Y coordinates and it should work. The tablet is anyway register as a mouse input (more or less). And you can also tie any button to anything in VDMX.

Thank you so much!!!

I will be 10 days offline, but I let you know how that worked out.

I am exited to try that way you suggested :)
