Drive full, cant record

I can’t record my videos. A sign appears on the recording. There is enough disk space though, 15 Gb.

Hey Mike,

As of VDMX6 1.0.5 we prevent the movie recorder from using up the last 20 GB on a drive to prevent it from completely filling up. We’ve seen people accidentally fill up their drives, which can lead to all kinds of problems, especially if it is the boot drive.

We’re open to tweaking the behavior of this a bit, let us know your thoughts here, but generally it is recommended to keep at least 15 GB free for the macOS, and we figured a bit of a buffer would be good.

Hey David.

Thanks for replay. As for me I would prefer to have a less buffer, about 15 Gb free space on drive, it‘s enough.

Just be aware how modern MacOS uses drive space as a RAM swap file!

Agreed, going lower than 20GB, is a pretty bad idea, not to mention a performance hit.
