Custom FX not being applied

Hi,
I have troubles asigning a custom FX to the clip.

I follow all the steps as explained. Right click ‘Select inspected files’, then in FX tab I add the effect and Apply. The effect is asigned to the clip. I save everything, close vdmx and after I open it, I press the same clip where the effect was asigned before and it’s not there.
I attach a short video, where you can see the whole process.

Am I doing something wrong, maybe I’m missing something? This was already happening before and was accepted as a bug back in november 2019. It was then fixed, worked for some time and now its back. I tried both, vdmx5 and vdmx6, same behaviour.

It’s really frustrating as I prepare my set with for example 80 clips inside the project, do all the work and the effects are not there. Also it’s random, sometimes the effect appears as asigned, sometimes not.
Is anyone else experiencing this, it’s hard to believe I’m the only one having this issue, maybe I’m missing something and not asigning it correctly. Thanks for any help!

Thanks. Can you file a bug report about it?

Help Menu > Report Bug.

I just tested on my end in VDMX6 and it seems to be working for me. I’m guessing you would want to uncheck “Remember attribute changes made on layer” to avoid writing over your custom settings. Also, when you go to save your project. Go to the file menu and click “Update Preset and Save Project”

When I reopened this project it kept the clip FX that were applied. I’m running VDMX6 1.0.11 (latest)

Hi

thanks for the reply. I will file a bug but I wanna try first if there is any difference with “Remember attribute changes made on layer” unchecked. What does it do exactly? I can’t find any answer on the forum.
I left it checked as explained in the tutorial

I always save with update preset option. Thanks for all the tips. Will let you know if unchecking changed something.

Remember Attributes saves any changes that you make to those FX. So for example, if you load your media file with a custom FX, and adjust the slider values. The next time you select that media again the slider values will be the adjusted values, not the ones you originally set them too.

The same principle applies, that if you load a media, and click the X to remove the FX while that clip is running, the next time you launch that clip, that FX will be gone (since you saved it that way).

If you want a clip to launch with a specific FX always, I would uncheck “Remember changes on Layers.”

I also didn’t mention, Revert layer settings on clip eject, but that does what it says, if you uncheck it and eject your clip. The FX that it brought into that layer will stay on that layer.

Got it, thanks for the explanation. Is there a way to uncheck Remember attribute changes made on layer in general? Like for example you can check/uncheck ‘Revert on Eject’ in Settings.
Or do I have to uncheck it individually for each clip?

I understand the behaviour of Rememeber attributes now, anyway the bug i pretty straight forward as you could see in the video. I apply the clip, save the project, close VDMX. Open the vdmx again and the effect is not asigned to the layer. There is no adjusting or removing the effect while the clip is running. Thanks for your help!
