I’m brand new to VDMX. Using a 2021 Apple M1 Pro, Sonoma 14.8.4. My canvas only shows up as black and the videos I load do not appear. When I first opened the demo project it did work but now it doesn’t show anything. I haven’t made any changes or customized anything, just loaded some of my videos into the media folder.

- Which version of VDMX are you running?
- Is this a new install of VDMX or did you recently upgrade your system?
- If you go to Help > Open Demo Project. Does your playback work again?

Click on one of your videos in the media player interface.
And check at the bottom of the layer composition panel for the hide button. Click that button and report back.
Yeah, I’m puzzled as to why nothing is showing up. I updated to the latest version of VDMX hoping that would help. Also reset everything to defaults. Restarted everything. Tried the hide button(next to the layer opacity). Opening the demo project or other templates still shows a black canvas regardless of what kind of clip I load.
I would also add that while I’m new to VDMX I’ve used other basic video mixers, I’m an after effects animator and have used various 3D softwares etc. for many years so I figured this shouldn’t be hard. But I open it and… I get nothing. I’ve tried searching tutorials and it just says “click on the video” and there it is! But mine just shows up black. It did occur to me that when I first tried it and it worked I was using the free trial version. Then once I payed for it, it stopped working!
At the bottom right of your image under “Left Composition” there is the button “Show”, click that, so that it changes to “Hide” with a red background, to see images that needs to display “Hide”.
What happens?
Well that button didn’t do anything, but today I opened the program and it works seemingly as it is supposed to. No idea why nothing was showing up all the other times I’ve opened it over the past few weeks. Thanks for your help anyway!
It’s still not clear what version of VDMX6 you have installed. You can locate this in the top menu > VDMX6 > About VDMX6
