I actually laughed out loud when this solution struck me!
Since AI generated stems are now available in DJ gear and software, I’ve been tinkering with audio reactive vfx that responds to those individual stems. No more leak from the kick drum into everything.
I needed to get separate output from two different audio channels out of some DJ gear or app, sent into two separate audio analysis plugins in VDMX. The problem (that’s now solved, yay!) is that DJ gear can’t output like that. So I’ve been experimenting with ways to do it w/ aggregate devices, Blackhole and Audio Hijack.
Turned out to be a lot harder than I had thought. I had just ended up with some half-baked workaround routings, but most of all getting myself super confused. Took a break from that and tidied up some stray cables.

It’s just so horribly wrong!
But there’s no feedback loop because the D/A and A/D converters aren’t connected. So I think I can pride myself on having found the best possible solution. Zero latency and reliable as f**k!
(I’ve got two sound cards (one of them built into DJ hardware). Just in case anyone looking for smth similar, it’s not only the cable)
