Audio only sending to Speakers not Headphones, when replugged in

I’ve run into an issue on M1 MacBook pros running Sonoma and Tahoe where:

if I’m playing a video with sound sent to headphone jack out I hear it in the headphones, but if I then unplug the 3.5mm jack, the sound gets sent to laptop speakers, BUT when I plug in the headphone jack in again…the sound doesn’t return to the jack. Even when I toggle the sound output settings under sound settings.
Consequently I have to restart VDMX for it to send audio to Headphone out.

Anyone else encountering this? Any Workarounds without a restart?
It’s troublesome when I need to go back and forth from my laptop, to another audio device.

VDMX should be defaulting to whatever your system is using. Could you capture a screen recording of how you are changing your audio settings while VDMX6 is open?

I have similar sort of problem has occurred occasionally in the past but happening conistently this week– with a performance coming up in a few days–of course!!! SO audio system settings are set to and external audio interface -have tested with IRig Pro and SSL12. - system is playing to the Audio Interface - whereas Vdmx was sending One Video layer sound to the audio interface and another video layer sound to the internal speakers. !!? Now VDMX is only sending audio to internal speakers whilst system is set to audio interface and working with other program’ sound …. HOPE there is a simple fix - thanks Paul

I usually try and set the Audio system setting before starting vdmx- in the current patch Im not really using the audio analysis tool - and if it is in the patch I set audio playtthrough to off- The problem is I can’t find any other audio preference setting in VDMX …maybe I m missing seeing an obvious preference somewhere..? and HOW can it send to videos to two different sound sources at once :slight_smile: thanks, Paul

Ok the vidvox page that lists all the file paths was handy- I deleted ALL the VDMX preferences and re- registered the program- audio behaving again now.. I wonder if it might be possible and helpful to have the common general Audio Preferences option added to the VDMX Settings /Preferences dialogue box or menu? so that you can switch to different audio interfaces etc from within the program as well. ? alas though the problem keeps returning - one video playing from the media bin going to the audio interface and another only going to the internal speakers– While the Mac system setting is set to external audio interface and working that way with the rest of the computer Thanks Paul
